Note: The timing varies depending on location and weather, but this is the general rescue process used in Nepal.
1. Emergency Request Received
A rescue request is made by the traveler, guide, hotel owner, or trekking agency. Your exact location, symptoms, and contact details are collected immediately.
2. Insurance & Documentation Verification
If you have travel insurance, we quickly contact your provider for approval. If insurance does not cover rescue, you can also choose a self-pay option.
3. Helicopter Dispatched
Once approved, the rescue helicopter takes off from Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lukla, or another nearest base. This usually happens within 20–40 minutes, depending on weather and urgency.
4. Pick-Up From the Nearest Landing Point
The helicopter lands as close as possible to your location—helipads, lodges, or open flat areas in the mountains. The rescue team assists you onboard safely.
5. Immediate Transfer to Medical Facility
You are flown directly to Kathmandu or the nearest appropriate hospital for further treatment. Guides or team members communicate with your family or insurance company.
6. Post-Rescue Support
Nepal Voyage Treks assists with hospital check-in, insurance paperwork, and transportation to your accommodation once you’re stable.
